TORONTO — Chad Sanders has been promoted to general manager of Raptors 905, the Toronto Raptors' G-League affiliate.

Sanders was the team's manager of basketball operations, and takes over for Dan Tolzman, the GM of Raptors 905 for the past three seasons.

"As much as the 905 has a hand in developing our young Raptors on the court, it plays equally as large of a role in the development of our up-and-coming staff members. Chad becomes just the latest in an already long line of Raptors staffers to utilize the 905 to move up within our ranks," said Tolzman. "After just one season as a member of our team, Chad showed us he was capable of taking on this challenge."

Tolzman will remain the Raptors' vice-president of player personnel and assistant general manager.

Sanders worked with the Dominican Republic's program from 2011-'17, promoted from the national team's director of operations to general manager in 2015. The team's world ranking climbed 10 spots during his tenure, from 27th to 17th, and finished 13th at the 2014 FIBA World Cup.

Sanders was also the GM of pro team Leones de Santo Domingo.

Prior to his work in the Dominican Republic, Sanders was the graduate assistant under University of Kentucky coach John Calipari. He also served as the Wildcats' basketball manager from 2006 to '09.

The 31-year-old graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2009, and then earned a Masters degree in Education in 2011.
