Teat leads Brampton to Minto Cup final; Coquitlam and Okotoks to play semi

CALGARY — Jeffrey Teat scored five times and added three assists as the Brampton Excelsiors beat the Coquitlam Adanacs 12-9 on Saturday at the Minto Cup.

Brampton finished the round-robin portion of the Canadian junior-A lacrosse championship with a 3-0 record and advance directly to the tournament final on Monday.

Coquitlam will play in Sunday's semifinal against the Okotoks Raiders.

Jake Boudreau had a hat trick and two assists for Brampton, the Ontario champions. Clarke Petterson and Brendan Welsh each had a goal and three assists for the Excelsiors, while Justin Sykes and Connor McClelland added singles.

Steven Orleman made 31 saves for the win.

Chase Scanlan struck three times and added two assists for Coquitlam (2-1), the B.C. representative. Dennon Armstrong and Dylan Foulds both scored and had two assists. Larson Sundown, John Hofseth, Ryland Rees and Ethan Ticehurst rounded out the attack.

Christian Del Bianco stopped 30 shots in net for the Adanacs.

In the late game, Levi Anderson had three goals and an assist as Okotoks topped the Calgary Mountaineers 10-6 to advance to the semifinal.

Okotoks and Calgary are co-hosts of the tournament.
