Toronto Arrows can't hold on to lead in New York

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Toronto Arrows gave up a try on the final play of the match, leading to a 24-21 loss against Rugby United New York on Friday night.

John Quill scored the decisive try for New York (5-1) in its home opener. Fellow Major League Rugby expansion side Toronto fell to 3-4.

The Arrows could not hold on to a 21-12 lead in the second half. New York led 12-11 at halftime.

Andrew Ferguson and Guiseppe du Toit scored tries for Toronto. Sammy Malcolm was good on three penalty goals.

The Arrows complete an eight-game road swing to begin their season March 30 in Utah against the Warriors.

Toronto's home opener is April 7 against NOLA Gold.
