Anne Françoise Michot Arbuckle, 88, of Rockwood, ON, formerly of Sudbury, ON, died peacefully on Feb 2nd, 2017 at the Guelph General Hospital surrounded by family. Françoise was born on March 23rd, 1928 in Lyon, France. She was a university professor at Laurentian University for a number of years where she often chaired the Translation Department in an era where few women did so. Francoise was an avid knitter and a devoted grandmother who was the central point of the family. She was a strong supporter of the arts, in particular classical music, and spent many years volunteering alongside her husband with the St Andrews Choir and the Sudbury Youth Orchestra. She and John also attended Sudbury Symphony Orchestra concerts regularly. Francoise was an active member of the Sudbury Interfaith Dialogue and the St Andrews Church Council. Françoise is survived by her husband, John Arbuckle, her brother Jean (Huguette) Michot of Bergen, Holland, her daughters, Christine Arbuckle (Paul Berger) of Rockwood, ON, Sophie Arbuckle (Arik Braude) of New York, NY, grandchildren John Dermody, Eric Dermody and Shira Braude. Family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:30 pm, Sunday, Feb 5th, 2017 at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Rockwood Chapel, 117 Guelph Street, Rockwood, ON followed by a private funeral service. A memorial service will be held in St Andrews Church in Sudbury, ON at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Andrews Church, 111 Larch Street, Sudbury, ON, the Guelph General Hospital, 115 Delhi Street, Guelph ON, Mount Sinai Hospital, 600 University Ave, Toronto, ON or Sick Kids Hospital, 555 University Ave, Toronto, ON.
