Posted

Ashton Peter MM

Surrounded by loving family, left us on April 4, 2016. Born in Toronto on Aug 4, 1942, Peter was predeceased by his parents, Harry & Blanche (Lockrey) Ashton, his sister, Harriet, and his brother, Tommy. Survived by Christine McEwan, Suzanne (Brian), Marshall (Theresa), Jonathan, Gillian Ashton and Bailey (Dyllan) Christie. Mourned by sister, Nancy (Dale) Hagerman, Beth Ashton, Timothy (Sarita), Matthew (Gemma), Lauren, Joshua, Kate and Ella Hagerman. Fondly remembered by Margaret & Mavis, and friends and family across Canada and in Britain.

A man of keen and entertaining remembrances, a life-long educator of literature, a lover of all things political, a fan of all things sports, Peter never met an argument he wouldn't join. As a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, great-uncle, friend and host extraordinaire, he enjoyed entertaining, with good food and good company. He will be sorely missed by extended Ashton, Lockrie and McEwan family members and his many cherished friends.

A celebration of Peter's life will be held from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Reid Hall in the Village Centre, Village by the Arboretum, 33 Village Green Drive, Guelph, ON. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Foundation of the Guelph General Hospital and the London Health Science Foundation for muscle disease research: http://www.lhsf.ca/ways-to-give/donate-now/memorial-donation or by mail to London Health Sciences Foundation, 747 Base Line Road East, London, ON, N6C 2R6.
