It is with sadness we announce the passing of, Sgt. (Ret.) Marion, Gladys, Blackburn C.W.A.C. Doble/St. John, September 18th 2018, age 96 years at the Guelph General Hospital, 4th Floor. The 108 recitations of the, ‘Heart Sutra’ and family by her side; she gracefully embraced the dying light. Husbands: James Alexander Gray (dec. 99), Richard Blackburn (dec. 99). Loving mother of Margaret, Jeremy , Penny (Richard), Peter (Bonnie), Robin (Stephen) Beatrice (Kenneth) Pets: Max (dec. 78), Mona (dec. 57).

She appreciated life to its fullest: fresh summer strawberries, a good cup of hot pressed coffee, listening to her favourite music, Neil Young to Asheni. Watching her many great and grand children grow and move off into the 10 directions.

An Interment ceremony to be held at the, St. John Family Pioneer Cemetery, Sunderland Ontario, Sunday, August 11th 2019, 2:30pm. A family cemetery founded by Marion’s Great, great grandfather, Philip St. John an Irish Palatine who served duty as a King’s German Legionnaire at the Battle of Waterloo and with the Governor’s Army during the 1837 Rebellion.

We would like to thank the folks in Marion’s life who made it so difficult for her to ‘ Let Go’. The Guelph YMCA weekly yoga classes, University of Guelph, Art’s Faculty, Guelph Mobility Services, Stew and Nancy, Emma Neighbourhood Riverside Glenn, Music Program, ’The Young and the Restless’,’ The Price is Right’ and last, the 4th Floor Guelph General Hospital staff: Doctor Kennedy, Ann, and Matt who made our mother’s passing dignified and with grace . We thank you for your kind service.

A private family Celebration of Marion’s life to be held at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Royal Irish Regiment Benevolent Fund, GMS Donations Charity Number 100517, would be appreciated by the family.
