BRECKON, Douglas Ross

Posted

Breckon Doug MM (1)

May 30, 1937, to Jan. 4, 2022

Born in Nelson Township, Halton Region.

Doug married the love of his life, Patricia Pattison in 1961 and was a loving husband, loving father of three [Susan (m. James Wile), Jennie (m. Neil Tait) and Patrick (m. Kathy Bonaldo)] loving grandfather of six (Devon, Paige, Matthew, Lindsay, Spencer and Stirling) and Uncle to many.

He was a teller of long stories and bad jokes, (which are in hindsight, even more entertaining) and a long-time suffering Leafs fan. He was a member of the Boy Scouts in his early days and a life-long nature lover who was always searching for the best fishing hole.

He is predeceased by his oldest daughter Susan Breckon-Wile. Doug is also predeceased by his brothers Bruce and Roger and leaves behind his favourite sister Joanne.

Doug joined the Essex County OPP in 1957 where he rode a motorcycle and was a founding member of the OPP Search & Rescue dive team from 1963 to 1974.

In 1973 he was the youngest member to achieve the rank of Corporal and moved to a position in Guelph, Wellington, where he finished his career as a Sergeant in 1991, then became a very active member of the OPP Veteran’s Association acting as their Branch President for several years.

Doug was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. We are so grateful to have had him in our lives and will miss that mischievous twinkle in his eye.

Cremation has taken place with a small family graveside ceremony planned for the Spring. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.
