BYRNE, Shirley Anne

Passed away peacefully on April 24, 2022 at Village by the Arboretum Guelph Ontario, her home of 14 years. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband Philip H. Byrne (1965) and her parents Edna and Herbert R. Thompson. Shirley graduated from Trinity College, University of Toronto and became a long time member of the Canadian Federation of University Women. Shirley’s intelligence, values and talents served her well.  Beginning in a very competitive industry, she retired as an equities Portfolio Manager after 31 years with Co-Operators Insurance. In retirement she loved to travel, volunteer, and give back. Shirley was a finance committee board member for Trinity College. She sat on the board for the Guelph Spring Festival and was a member of the Chancel Guild at St George’s Anglican Church. She will be remembered as a beautifully dressed successful business woman, a caring and supportive  family member, and a true friend. The family is ever grateful to the Arbour Trails staff for years of kindness and excellent care.

Visitation and funeral will be held on June 1, 2022 at St. Georges Anglican Church 99 Woolwich St, Guelph, ON N1H 3V1 10 a.m. Visitation, 11 a.m. Service, 12 noon luncheon.
