With great sadness, the family announces that Ken passed away peacefully in Guelph, Ontario at the age of 64. His loving wife and children were by his side at Hospice Wellington, on Tuesday February 28, 2017. Beloved husband of 38 years to Alice Carey (nee Wilcockson). Loved father of Michael Carey and Heather Carey. Much loved son of Emma Jean Carey of Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Predeceased by his father Rev. Dr. Edward Francis "Frank" Carey. Dear brother of Ivan Carey, Norma Carey, Ted Carey, Don Carey and Barb Marks. Ken will be sadly missed by many, including members of Harcourt Memorial United Church and the Harcourt Choir, coworkers at the Guelph Turfgrass Institute, and fellow choir members of the Guelph Chamber Choir.
Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the nurses, personal support workers, kitchen staff, cleaning staff and Dr. Robinson at Hospice Wellington for their amazing care and compassion during Ken’s stay there.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday March 24, 2017, at Harcourt Memorial United Church, 87 Dean Avenue, Guelph. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Hospice Wellington or Harcourt Memorial United Church.
