It is with great sadness that the family of H. Garry Clarke announces his passing, after a long and valiant battle against cancer, in his 83rd year.

Beloved husband of the late H. Kaye (Mathany Feduzzi) Clarke (2017), and the late Dorothy (Zurowski) Clarke (1995).

Loving father to Jennifer, Michael (Terri) and David. Cherished stepfather to Barbara (Eugene), Michael (Basak) and John.

Beloved Poppa to Mackenzie and Ethan Clarke, Brittany Fraser (Craig), Maegan Valeriote (Shaun), and Natalie Fraser. Great-Poppa to Grayson and Hudson.

Predeceased by father Joseph Roy, and mother Pauline (McCue) Clarke. Survived by brothers Robert “Bob” (Patricia) and Michael (Ann).

Retired Superintendent of the RCMP (1956-1991) and a proud horseman of The Musical Ride (1958). Retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Corps Commissionaires 1991-1995.

After retirement, Garry moved to Guelph, Ont. and had a joyful life filled with family, dear friends, travel, golf, wine, and laughter. He will be remembered for his joyful enthusiasm, boisterous voice, service to community, deep faith and commitment to the Catholic Church, love of nature, and dedication to family and friends. Garry and his wife Kaye were active members of The Guelph Country Club.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff from the Guelph General Hospital and the Grand River Hospital. In particular, Garry’s family would like to offer their most heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Palliative Care Unit at St Joseph’s Health Centre for their care and support.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St. Guelph. Funeral Mass to be held at Basilica of Our Lady, Wednesday, May 8 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
