Newt Clayton in his 93rd year, was the beloved husband of the late Marguerite Lorraine Clayton (2009). He is survived by his siblings Garnet (Ruth) Clayton, June Fernie, Bruce (Gertrude) Clayton, and Doreen Young. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Bill (late Muriel) Clayton, and Beverley (Marlene) Clayton.

Newt was the owner and president of the N.W Clayton Sheet Metal and Steel Fabricating Company, and former president of the Ontario Sheet Metal Contractors Association. He was a 57-year member of the Rotary Club in Guelph. At Queen’s Park, Toronto, on February 15, 2008, Newt received from Lieutenant Governor David Onley, the Ontario Senior Achievement Award for having made a significant contribution to his community.

Newt was very creative, artistic, and inventive. He cared about the community and donated to many local organizations. He was an avid supporter of the Sunrise Therapeutic Riding & Learning Centre. Newt and his wife Marguerite helped support the Dialysis Centre in Guelph.

Friends will be received at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and Friday, September 8, from 1-2 p.m. A funeral service will be held for Newt at the funeral home on Friday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation to follow.
