62, of Guelph, Ontario, passed away December 29, 2018 after a long battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in the care of Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton, Ontario. Born December 3, 1956, in North Bay, Ontario, she is predeceased by her parents, Eileen (Fricker) and Douglas Scott, both born in North Bay.

Laurie is survived by her husband, Derek Cooley. She was a loving, caring mother to two daughters, Desiree and Pearl. Laurie was a beloved grandmother to Nixon and Evelina Furtado and mother-in-law to Brad Furtado. Laurie’s sister Brenda and brothers Terry and Ray continue to shine Laurie’s light.

Laurie was a significant part of the community. Donating her time and money to Lakeside Church and HOPE House. Laurie was an active part of her children’s lives, by volunteering at their schools to attending class trips.

Laurie was the primary care giver of daughter, Pearl, through her battle with Cystic Fibrosis.

A celebration of life will be held at Lakeside Church, 7654 Conservation Road, Guelph on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 55 St Clair Avenue West, Suite 500, Toronto, ON M4V 2Y7 and Lakeside HOPE House, 10 Cork Street East, Guelph, ON N1H 2W8.
