COWBROUGH, Murray Ronald (May 6, 1952 - July 20, 2022)

Murray Ronald Cowbrough, a loving father, grandfather and husband, passed away in his 70th year at Guelph General Hospital on July 20th. Murray is predeceased by his father Ronald and mother Constance. He is survived by his wife Linda, daughters Sarah (Matthew) and Heather (Eric). “Old Grandpa” will be dearly missed by all his grandchildren Savannah, Annabelle, Sydney, Dominic and Stephanie. Murray was the first born of four brothers and is survived by Kevin (Brenda), Ian (Donna) and Brian (Christine). Murray will be dearly missed by all his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Murray was well known in the neighbourhood as he spent most days relaxing in his chair on the front porch, always willing to share a story. The neighbours will remember him as a friendly person to chat with and someone who always had a treat for your pets. He was an avid sports fan and rarely missed a chance to watch a hockey or baseball game. Murray loved gardening and took pride in growing vegetables and tending to his lawn. One of Murray’s favourite past times was coin collecting and had been collecting for many years. Before Murray returned to Guelph to start his family, he spent time out west and in Africa as a helicopter pilot. He was such a fan of planes and helicopters he was able to identify them as they flew by. Once he returned to Guelph, he spent many years working the family dairy farm, driving dump trucks, and snow plowing. In everything Murray did you could see the effort and hard work he put into it. The family would also like to thank all the wonderful health care workers who helped care for Murray over the past few years.

His loving and good nature will be missed dearly by all those who loved and cared for him. The family will be hosting a visitation for all those who want to pay respects on Sunday, July 31st from 4 to 6 pm at WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St. Guelph, ON. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Guelph Humane Society.

A tree will be planted in memory of Murray R. Cowbrough in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
