At St. Mary’s General Hospital, Wed. April 11, 2018 following several years of declining health. Andrew was born July 8, 1947 in Listowel, Ontario, the beloved son of Ruth Cummings of Listowel and the late Howard Cummings (1974). Andrew was the very proud father of Andrea Hirons and grandfather of Kayla Stone and Austin Stone, all of Cambridge. Andrew is survived by his brothers Vernal (Laureen) of Ethel and Mark (Ann) of St. Jacobs; his sister Lorraine of London, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his aunts Audrey Cummings of Moorefield, Nina Cummings and Anne Edgar both of Listowel.
Andy, as he was known to his friends, had been deeply involved with the local AA community over the last 43 years. Andy touched the lives of hundreds of individuals and their families through his dedicated sponsorship and mentorship. He generously shared his time and the limited resources he had with anyone in need. His loss will be keenly felt by the community.
The family will receive their friends at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Homes Waterloo Chapel, 617 King St. N., Waterloo for a Funeral Service at 1:30pm on Monday, April 16th. (visitation from 11-1:30 pm) Cremation to follow. Memorial donations to the Ray of Hope would be appreciated.
