De Vogel Casey MM

Of Guelph, passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on Thursday, April 30, 2020, at the age of 89.  Beloved husband of Marlene 46 years. Loving father of Nancy (Steve) Zaitz of Ancaster and Diane (Norm) Jacobs of Commerce Township, Michigan. Dear stepfather of Randy Claer (Sheri) of Georgetown, Les Claer (Laura) of Cambridge, Lori Claer of Richmond Hill and Mike Claer (Mabelle) of Huntsville. Cherished Grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Casey emigrated to Canada from Holland and was a longtime employee at Rockwell International in Milton. He enjoyed a long and happy retirement. He was an avid lover of boating, loved time spent at marina with family and many boating friends, loved working on his boat and had many countless wonderful hours with family and grandchildren on the boat and even more in the dingy which his grandchildren still cherish to this day. He was a great fan of football and hockey and loved his Chicago Blackhawks.

Casey’s easy-going demeanor and outgoing personality made him very popular, he was well-loved and liked by all who met him. He was adored by his children and grandchildren. Casey will be sadly missed, he was an awesome role model and mentor to his family, and we have many, many fond memories.  He battled fiercely during his illness, he always fought through and we were always amazed at his unbelievable strength and courage.
