Elena passed away at St. Marys hospital on Saturday July 21st, 2018. Elena was born in Cordenons, Italy on November 18th, 1939, and she immigrated to Canada in 1954. She married the love of her life, Carmine DeCorso, and they have enjoyed 62 beautiful years of joy and laughter. Daughter of the late Arturo and Alice Raffin. Loving mother of Louise DeCorso (John Gwinn), John DeCorso (Jane) and Paul DeCorso (Sandy). Cherished Grandmother of Andrea (Alex), Alexander, Madeline, Reid, Luke, Will, Holly, Amber (Szasa) and Nathan and Great Grandmother of Carly and Brett. Sister to Rico Raffin (Mary)
Elena was completely devoted and committed to her family and friends, and lived her life with energy, passion, honesty and integrity. Her grandchildren are the pride of her life, and her lasting memory will always be their beacon of strength. She is fondly remembered, and will also be greatly missed by all of her wonderful nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends.
Elenas family would like to sincerely thank her doctors, nurses and caregivers from Guelph General, Grand River and St. Marys hospitals for their care and compassion.
Friends and family will be received at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon St. Guelph, on Wednesday July, 25th, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Vigil prayers will take place at 3:30 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Johns Church, 45 Victoria Rd. N., Guelph, on Thursday July 26th, 2018 at 11:00 am. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Guelph.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Guelph Wish Fund for Children. Cards are available at the funeral home or online.
Elena DeCorsos spirit shines today and forever. Her amazingly brave battle with leukemia took her body, but not her strength and bright spirit. Her love surrounds us.
