Mrs. Lilly Denes, 88, died on Wednesday, September 1st, 2021 at St.
Joseph’s Health Care Centre in Guelph. Lilly was well known at St. Joe’s
for her kindness to staff and residents, and her loving devotion to her
husband of 65 years, who resided there for 13 years.

Lilly is preceded in death by her husband and ‘hearts partner’ Joseph
Denes and leaves behind her son Stephen Denes (Lorraine), her daughter
Christine Zorn (Karl), three granddaughters, Kaitlyn Zorn, Anna Gamble
(Vital), and Alyse Zorn, one great-grandson Zander Denes-Gamble and
friends.

Lilly was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario and was the only child of
Joseph and Anna Selecky who are of Hungarian heritage. At a young age,
she was recognized on stage by Glenn Gould for her talent in piano.
Lilly had a zest for life, forging a career for herself as an X-ray
Technician. Lilly soon became pregnant with her son Stephen and out of
safety concerns, left her career to raise a family. She enjoyed
providing for her family from their half acre garden in Toronto,
producing a variety of preserves, cooking, baking, and sewing, all while
working part-time in retail. Lilly could never have enough shoes and had
a style for clothing right down to the finishing scarf. Lilly owned her
cute quirks and passes on to her family her love of life, flowers, and
gardening.
