DICK, William (Bill)

(September 1, 1932 – January 28, 2018) - Bill passed away at Sakura House Hospice in Woodstock, ON after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Joanne (nee Parks). Bill is survived by his sister, Mary Allan, his son Brock and wife Kathy and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill was born in Fergus, ON and raised in Penticton, BC. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces for several years before coming to Guelph to work at the Guelph Correctional Centre. He later joined the Staff Training Branch of the Ministry of Correctional Services in Brampton, ON and retired at age 55 to spend time with family and friends. He avidly took up golf and photography to fill up his spare time.

Bill’s family would like to thank his friends and neighbours who took time out of their busy lives to drop in and check in on him or have a brief chat while he sat on the front porch. We also want to thank all the doctors, nurses, PSWs, and volunteers who helped make life more comfortable for both Bill and his family in his final days. God bless you all. An interment and celebration of Bill’s life will take place at a later date. Bill’s cat, Betty, asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Guelph Humane Society or Sakura House Hospice in Woodstock, ON.
