DOUCETTE, William (Bill)

Of Guelph (born in Halifax), passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the age of 72 years. “Veni, vidi, vici", I came I saw I conquered. Bill was with the Provo Corps and stationed in Edmonton and Germany and then returned to Edmonton where he remustered to R.C.E.M.E. He continued his distinguished career with the UN Peacekeeping service. Upon retiring he served with the reserves and with the Sheriff’s Department in Kentville, NS. Much loved husband of Paula Doucette (nee McGrath) for 45 cherished years. Beloved father of sons Shawn (wife Catharine) and Jason (wife Amy). Cherished Grampie of Aidan, Abigail, Olivia and Benjamin. Respected Pops to many fine young men. Brother of Margie Doucette of Halifax. A private memorial will take place at a later date at the Marymount Cemetery in Guelph, ON. Donations in memory may be made to Free to Play – Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington and the SickKids Hospital in Toronto. A tree will be planted in memory of William (Bill) Doucette in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:30 pm.
