Peacefully at home in Guelph, Don, in his 85th year, went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2016. Beloved husband of 58 years to Jean (Tosh), much loved father of Sandra Gray (Tim), Guelph and Laurie Bowen (Jordie), Kelowna, BC. Loving grandfather of Catherine Bowen. Brother of Eileen McEnery, Guelph, Jean Ortlieb, Newmarket and Margaret Blacklock (Don), Guelph. Pre-deceased by his parents Bill and Laura Early, brother Bill Early and sisters Myrtle Gullis and Mary Maynard.
Don was raised in Nassagaweya and farmed the family farm until 1987. Upon retirement he so enjoyed his trucking days for Sharpe Farm Supplies. He always had a joke to share, a ready handshake for all and a piece of bread for the dog.
Visitation will be held at WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Monday, September 19, 2016 from 1 PM -3 PM and 6 PM – 8 PM. There will be a one-hour visitation on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 prior to the 11 AM service at Ebenezer United Church, 12274 Guelph Line, north of Brookville. Interment and reception to follow immediately at Ebenezer United Church. Memorial contributions to Ebenezer United Church or charity of choice would be appreciated.
A tree will be planted in memory of Donald O. Early in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:30 pm.
