FINNINGLEY, Corinne Grace (nee Gaunt)

Posted

Finningley Corinne MM

Passed away peacefully at Guelph General Hospital on Monday January 10, 2022, at the age of 97.

Corinne was born in Saskatoon and resided there for much of her life.  Following high school, she worked in the office of Woolworth’s in Saskatoon and Victoria, where she met her future husband Ted. Corinne and Ted married in Winnipeg on June 12, 1950, followed by moves to Sarnia, Medicine Hat and Regina.  Upon Ted’s retirement the family returned to Saskatoon, where Corinne worked in the business office at the Hudson Bay Company once her family was grown.  In 2010, Corinne moved to Guelph and resided with her daughter Patricia and family until her passing.

Mom enjoyed life and was happiest when she was with family.  She loved to play the piano. She was a classical pianist who achieved her full Grade 12 musical certification through the Royal Conservatory of Music.  She also loved playing bridge with friends and looked forward to planting and tending her garden in the summer.  Mom always created a beautiful home wherever she lived, with her own creative sense of style and warm personality.

It was always a joy for her grandchildren to have tea and treats at Grandma’s house.  They loved having regular visits with her, as we all did, as she entertained us with many stories and much laughter.

Corinne is predeceased by her loving husband Ted (1983), her parents Vernon and Gladys Gaunt, her sister Marge and her brothers Adrian, Will and Darby.

Our Mom is lovingly remembered by her four children, Allan (Glenys), Mary, Ted (Barb) and Patricia (Dave), and nine grandchildren, Vanessa (Mike), James, Mark (Meghan), Alex (Geordie), Allison (James), Joel, Nicole, Aaron, and Cameron and four great grandchildren William, Emma, Kennedy and Anders. Corinne is survived by her brother Lionel, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Guelph General Hospital for their wonderful care of our mom during her final days.

Donations in Corinne’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Salvation Army would be appreciated.

A private family remembrance will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.
