Fischer, Debra Ann (nee Shortt)

Taken away suddenly from her loving family on March 30, 2016 in her 61st year, to be at peace with her Saviour. Loving wife to Randy for almost 35 years. Wonderful mother to Carrie (Sean Spencer) and Katie (Shawn Belisle). Loving Nana Deb to Sutton, Cala, Siena, and Grace. Beloved daughter to William and Mary Lou Shortt and daughter-in-law to Marjorie Fischer and the late Francis Fischer. She will be missed by her sister Lynn (Paul Wilmer) and sister-in-law Cheryl Fischer. She will also be fondly remembered by all of her family and by her many friends. Debra worked as a nurse for 38 remarkable years; her first 6 years were at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the ICU/CCU Unit and the remaining 32 years were spent in family practice with Dr. Rosemary Danielli. Her gentle manner and welcoming personality endeared her to her patients. Debra exemplified the best qualities of the nursing vocation—unbridled patience, sincerity, empathy and commitment to serving others. Family and friends are invited to the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, for visitation on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. with a vigil at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Basilica of our Lady, 28 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Marymount Cemetery, Guelph. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Wellington or to the Mood Disorders Support Group of Guelph would be appreciated by the family.
