Passed away on Friday, September 6, 2019 in her 93rd year.

Joyce was the beloved wife of the late Wray Gardiner (October 26/18) of Guelph. She leaves to mourn her two devoted daughters and their families, Nancy McCarvell (Mike McKillop) and Sandra Close (Randy); her beloved grandchildren Andrew McCarvell, Heather Duke (John), Ryan Close (Angele), Shannon Close, and Aaron Close (Jessica); and her adored great-grandchildren Natalie, Allison, Liam, Sonny, Dahlia and Dublin.

Joyce Myrtle McVeigh was born in Toronto on March 25, 1927. She grew up in Georgetown and Acton and was the last member of a large family. She married her sweetheart in 1949, and she and Wray set up home in Eden Mills. Here she began her true vocation and her greatest joy - her family. She loved unreservedly and was an adored matriarch, best friend, cheerleader and co-conspirator to her daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren. We will forever miss mom’s unfailing love, sense of humour, quick wit, and the deceptively innocent twinkle in her eye.

Our sincere thanks to everyone at Robins Grove unit of Barnswallow Care Community in Elmira where she spent the past two years enjoying, and entertaining, the wonderful caregivers. Joyce considered these kind people her family.

A celebration of life befitting such a lovely lady will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at the Eden Mills Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the adjoining Eden Mills Cemetery. Mom loved flowers, so feel free to bring a sprig from your garden to add to our bouquets. Donations to a charity of your choice are always appreciated.

Cards are available at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph (519-822-4731)
