It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Joseph Gaul on January 10, 2023 at Wellington Terrace in Fergus at the age of 83.

Loving husband to Barbara (nee Rosewell) for 60 wonderful years. Proud father to Michael and Curtis (Angela). Dear brother of Josephine (Al) and Judy (Al). Loving Brother-In-Law of Gary and Eleanor Rosewell and proud Uncle to all of his Nieces and Nephews. Predeceased by his parents the late Mary and Mike Gaul. Will be missed by all his friends and extended family.

Born in the family home in Hamilton Ontario in 1939, his early years were filled seeking out adventure and fun in playing neighborhood football in Roxborough Park, spending time with amazing friends roaring around the Hamilton area in their car club and of course being loving and loyal to his family. Being a musician playing drums with various local groups, an avid music collector and a “library” of musical knowledge was an immense and important passion throughout his life of which he connected and shared with so many.

He was a dedicated employee of Dofasco for 25 years, he balanced his work and family life with strong ethics, love and respect.

A 60 year-long marriage to his love, Barbara, was a loving journey on winding roads. He was never afraid to express the love and care he had for his family and was always there when needed. Thank you for holding the ladder Dad.

A sincere heartfelt thank you from his family to the amazing staff and residents at Wellington Terrace who made his final months and days enjoyable and comfortable.

Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph, where cremation has taken place. A memorial to celebrate Joe’s life will take place in Spring 2023.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (heartandstroke.ca) or Summer Music Society (summermusic.com) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
