GEMIN, Gary Ferruccio

Peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital surrounded by his family on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the age of 56 years. Cherished eldest son of Eraldo and Elisa (Simionato), father and friend to Darryl and Owen, stepfather to Joshua and Devin Trolley, loved brother to his siblings Robert (Nadia), Mary (Ray Hutchison) and Steve (Rosanna) and special partner to Cathy Aitcheson and her son Chad who while came into his life late, made Gary very happy. Uncle Gary and his unique sense of humour, will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews; Michael and Olivia Gemin, Keenan and Kylie Bridgeman and Emma and Laura Gemin – family dinners will never be the same! Gary will also be fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles and cousins in Guelph, the Niagara Region and Italy. Gary had a passion for golf and all things sports and loved nothing more than to sit back, have a drink and watch a game or play a hand of poker in the company of family and friends; some of which he was blessed to have known for a lifetime. Although our hearts feel broken, we know he now has the best seat in the house and endless greens to golf…get that hole in one Gary! Thank you to Dr. Hirschberg and Dr.Hotte (Juravinski Hospital) for the care of Gary during his 4 year battle with prostate cancer and to the staff at the GGH for your care and compassion; Dr. Martin, 6th floor nurses Selina and Jocelyn and 5th floor nurses Laura, Janice and Char. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, where the family will receive friends on Sunday from 11:00am-1:00pm and 3:30-5:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Guelph General Hospital or Prostate Cancer Canada would be appreciated by the family.
