It is with profound sadness that the family of Viola Gravel announces her passing, on April 28, 2016. She passed away peacefully with her son at her side, at Twin Oaks of Maryhill, at the age of 93. Viola was born August 13, 1922, in Timmins, Ontario, to the late Florent and Edwige Danis. She was the beloved wife of the late Jean-Jacques Gravel (1984). Viola will be lovingly remembered by her son Jacques and daughter-in-law Kathie of Guelph, her granddaughters Melanie Gravel of Kitchener and Jacqueline Kay (Mike) of Guelph, and her great-granddaughter Sophie Kay. Viola was predeceased by her daughter Helene (2000), her sisters Bertha and Gertrude, and brother Nelson (Sonny). She leaves behind many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends in Timmins, Ontario and Maniwaki, Quebec.
Family and friends are invited to the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, where visitation will take place on Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. A Memorial Service to commemorate Viola’s life will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 a.m.
A Funeral Mass and interment of ashes will be held in Timmins at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
