It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Barbara Hegarty, on September 5th, 2019, in Fergus, Ontario.

Barb is survived by her children, Colleen (Ted Mooney), Patrick (Lisa), predeceased by her beloved son Kevin (1989), and her loving husband Eamon (2014). Devoted, loving, and proud Nan to her four grandsons Brendan, Eamon, Colin, and Seamus. Barb was born in Montreal, Quebec, on January 23rd, 1932, to Matilda and James Craig. She lost her mom at an early age, and was raised by her dad, with the help of a few aunts. Barb loved sports.

She enjoyed golf, curling, the Expos, the Blue Jays, and if she wasn’t playing sports, she was watching them on T.V. Our mom was brave in moving to Guelph after our dad passed. Mom dearly missed her beloved friends from her bridge club, and golf course, but she was very grateful to have family close by. Barb will be deeply missed by her family, extended family, nieces, nephews, friends old and new, in Montreal, Belleville, and Guelph.

She was a caring person, who volunteered, and served her community, through Civic Action of Belleville, and was a member of the CWL at Saint Michael’s. Our heartfelt thanks to Kirsteen Birkett, and the amazing, and caring team of professionals at Qualicare Guelph (past and present). These devoted caregivers brought not only practical support to mom, but they gave her hope, compassion, encouragement, and she loved to listen and laugh with all of them.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Church Street, Belleville, on Tuesday, September 10th, 2019. At 11:00 a.m. Father Richard Whalen officiating. Rite of Committal with prayers will follow at Saint James’ Cemetery, Belleville, followed by a reception at the Burke Funeral Home. If desired, donations may be made to the Gleaner’s Food Bank (https://www.gleanersfoodbank.ca/make-a-difference/donate) or, the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (https://foundation.ottawaheart.ca/ways-give/donate-now).

Arrangements under the direction of BURKE FUNERAL HOME (613-968-6968) 150 Church Street, Belleville.
