Passed away peacefully at the age of 89 years, on Sunday, September 2nd, 2018 with family by her side.  Beloved wife of the late Lewis Hornsby for 66 years.  Loving mother of Steven of Salem, Fran Baehnisch and her partner Dave Crandell of London, and John and his wife Andrea of New Zealand.  Dearly loved by her grandchildren Shannon, Priscilla, Andrew, Chris, Jennifer (Nathan), Matthew and Ethan, and great grandchildren Raine, Ayden, Asha, Sirocco, Rischa, Evren and Lux.  Dear sister of Allan (Lloy) Grose of London, and Alma Dunk of Mitchell and loved sister-in-law to Ruth Grose.  Ethel is survived by many nieces, nephews and other family. Predeceased by her daughter Phyllis and son-in-law Gary Hussey, sisters Hazel, Olive, Norma, Lila, and brother Raymond, as well as parents Emerson Grose and Pearl (Trask). Also forever remembered as Canadian 'Mom' to international exchange students Asa, Tini and Jo, as well as many others touched by her kindness and loving spirit.

Ethel was known for her boundless energy and tireless efforts, volunteering with many local community groups and organizations.  As a lifelong member of the Elora United Church, she was a beloved member of the UCW, senior choir, as well as junior choir leader and Sunday school teacher for many years. Our family wishes to thank the many staff and volunteers at Wellington Terrace for their care and compassion during her stay.

Family and friends may visit at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 37 Church St East, Elora on Friday, September 14th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, September 15th, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Elora United Church, 75 Geddes St, Elora. Donations in Ethel’s memory may be made to the Elora United Church or the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted with the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home.
