Left us peacefully in the early hours of March 31, 2018. She lived a full life in her 83 years. She was predeceased by her husband Glen Howitt in 1987, and her sister Betty Caughey more recently in 2010. She will be greatly missed by her children Kate Howitt (Paul Denyer), Deborah Howitt (Jeffrey Aaron) and Greg Howitt (Angela Zekkou), and by her sisters Joyce Collings, Bonnie (Brian) McMillan, brother Ronald (Rosanna) Hildreth, and sister-in-law Ann Howitt. She will be fondly remembered by the rest of her family and friends from the Eden Mills and Gibson Lake communities.
A celebration of her life and sharing of memories will be held at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 2-5 p .m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
A tree will be planted in memory of Shirley A. Howitt in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:30 pm.
