It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Nana and great grandmother. Helen Mildred Laidlaw (Thompson) passed away peacefully at Lake House Nursing Home, Largo, Florida on February 15, 2017 at the age of 94. Helen was born on June 12, 1922 in Guelph, Ontario. Predeceased by her dear husband of 68 years, John Maurice (August 7, 2009). Loving mother of Joanne and husband Bob Beausoleil of Windsor, Ontario, Helen Jane Laidlaw of Clearwater, Florida, Deborah Laidlaw of Toronto, Ontario and Stephanie Laidlaw of St. Petersburg, Florida. Cherished Nana of Jennifer (Pat) Dejesus, Michael (Stephanie) Beausoleil, Michelle Breeze, Marc (Julia) Breeze and Monica (Tim) Quinlan, all in Ontario. Treasured great grandmother of Darin, Madelyn Rose, Emma, Timmy, Jack, McKayla, Max and Grace, all in Ontario. Reunited with her late parents Wilhelmina (1970) and Frederick (1973) Thompson and sister Bernice (2001) and brother-in-law John Longstaff (1999). She is survived by her brothers-in-law William (Marie) Laidlaw of Guelph, Ron (Brenda) Laidlaw of Port Dover, and sister-in-law Joan Ross (Laidlaw) (Hugh 1963) of Guelph and predeceased by Earl “Bud” (2004) and Marice Laidlaw (2014).
We would like to thank the staff from Lake House Nursing Home for treating our Mom with love and respect. Especially many thanks to Arlete Rocha who has taken care of our Mom. Cremation has taken place at the Curlew Hill Funeral Home, Clearwater , Fla. A Celebration of Helen’s Life will be held at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre. Inurnment Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph.
A tree will be planted in memory of Helen M. Laidlaw in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:30 pm.
