At the Guelph General Hospital on Thursday, February 18, 2016.

Emilien J. Lamontagne passed away in his 79th year, was the beloved husband of Ghislaine (Blanchette) Lamontagne.

He was the loving father of Regean (Reg) Lamontagne of Hamilton, Sylviane Lamontagne and her partner Réjean of Ste Justine, Quebec, Lauriane Hutchings and her husband Frank of Guelph, and the late Linda (1987).

Emilien was the proud grandfather of Amie, Guillaume, Stephanie, and Austin, and great-grandfather of Viktoria-Ann and Olivier.

Predeceased by grandchild Joshua.

He was the dear brother of Jean-Noël Lamontagne and his wife Fleurette of St Bernard, Quebec, and the late Reál, Guy, Germain, Louissette, Lucia, and Jean Charles.

Brother-in-law to Émile Blanchette and his wife Honoride, Lucia Blanchette and her husband Fernand, Margaret Blanchette and her late husband Lionel, Liliane Blanchette and her late husband Maurice, the late Henri (Cécile), the late Valère (Claudette), the late Alice Fournier (Alphonse), the late Irène Blanchette (Claude), and the late Camille Blanchette (Lorna). Survived by many nieces and nephews.

Emilien loved cooking, especially spaghetti and meatballs, and he enjoyed gardening. Emilien was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus.

Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, where the family will receive friends on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m.

A vigil for Emilien will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 3:30 p.m.

A funeral mass will take place at the Basilica of our Lady on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10 a.m. followed by interment at Marymount cemetery, Guelph.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, the Alzheimer’s Society, the Canadian Cancer Society, or to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
