LOWELL (nee Hebden), Muriel Dorothy

Posted

Lowell Muriel

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2016 in Markham, Ontario.  Loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Muriel led a long and enjoyable life of 90 years.  Together with her soulmate Ted, who passed almost exactly two years ago, they formed and cherished family, friends, work, homes, cottage, an active retirement and travel.

Muriel now joins husband Charles Edward Hudson (Ted) Lowell, brother Donald Hebden, sisters Joan Maxwell and Mary Ingram (Ed).  Survived by brother Jack Hebden (Helen) and sister-in-law Ruby.  Loving mother of Nancy Dyck (James) and sons Brad (Susan), Randy (Doris) and Scott (Cathie).  Grandmother to Lauren (Wade), Amy, Gillian, Adrian, Alex, Alycia (George), Kyrsten and Stephanie.  Great-grandmother to Ever and Phoenix.

Together since the age of 16, Muriel and Ted grew up, met and married in Guelph.  Subsequently they built their family and circle of friends through Stoney Creek, Kleinberg, Ridgetown, Grimsby, Magnetawan and finally Unionville-Markham.  Muriel was retired from the Toronto Dominion Bank (Grimsby) where she delighted in the interaction with colleagues and customers alike. At home or cottage there was always a project underway, another garden being dug or in the quieter moments, a book and the occasional glass of sherry in hand.  Despite this loss we’re very thankful that once again they’re enjoying their coffees in the sun together.

Family and friends are invited to gather at 1:30pm on Thursday, October 27th at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St, Guelph.  A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 762 Woolwich St, Guelph at 2pm with a brief reception to follow at Wall-Custance.  Donations are welcome to the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice.

A tree will be planted in memory of Muriel D. Lowell in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:30 pm.
