Melva Luker (nee Murphy) died peacefully on November 29th in her 93rd year with her family by her side. She will be sorely missed by her loving husband of 67 years Sam Luker, daughters Judy Massey (Dave) and Jana Luker (Bob Johnston), grandchildren Emma Luker (Jason Asnis), Kai Luker, Christopher and Brett Massey, great grandchildren Hudson and Lennox Massey and her many nephews and nieces.

Melva grew up on Fifth Street in Midland. She was known for her extraordinary athletic ability and her kind and compassionate demeanour. As a nurse at St. Andrew’s hospital in Midland, St. Joseph’s Hospital in London and Camp Kitchikewana, caring for others with compassion was paramount. Always quick with her magnificent smile, she brought such joy and laughter to those around her.

Her family expresses sincere gratitude to the amazing staff at Hillcrest Village who filled Melva’s last days with such comfort and care. Thank you so very much.

A Celebration of Life for Melva will be arranged in the spring.
