Passed away, peacefully, at the Guelph General Hospital on Thursday, March 2, 2017. Alf Lyle, age 85 years, was the loving companion and best friend of Ruth Montgomery. Beloved husband of the late Doreen May (nee Smith) Lyle. He was the dear father of Jimmy (Margie), Danny, Karen (Ron) Granville, Dave (June), Debbie (Ken) Spies, Alfreda (Joe) Fergus, Beth (Scott) Grant. Alf is remembered by 15 grandchildren, by 24 great-grandchildren and by 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings Elmer (Marguerite), Anna (late Joe) McLean, Winnifred (Jack) Morrell, Bill (Gerrie) and Ronnie (Sheila), by two sisters-in-law Liz and Hennie Lyle and by one brother-in-law Ron Bamsey. Alf was predeceased by his parents Walter and Elsie, by his siblings Walter Red, Marion, Martha (late Jack) and Albert, by his sister-in-law Norma Lyle and by his brother-in-law Jack Hanlon.
Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph.
