Macerollo Joseph MM

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one, Joseph Louis Macerollo, “Big Joe”, on December 26th, 2021 at the age of 71.

He is survived by his son/brother Joey “Little Joe” (Janet Wosik) and by his daughter Natasha Billard (granddaughters Tatiana and Tegan).  Born in Guelph, Ontario, he is predeceased by parents Louis (Harpo) and Dora Macerollo, sister Lynda (Allan Weeks) and brother John Macerollo.  He will be forever remembered by his siblings, Patricia (Peter Darrach), Daniel (Kelly Galick), Louise (the late Paul Kelly), Michael (Beverly Self), Judy (Shayne Campbell), Ann (Jon Lankin), and Maria (Sean Coleman) also by his many nieces, nephews, and relatives.

Joseph “Big Joe”, lived through many experiences in the tapestry of his life.  He will always be remembered for having a genuine warmth, loving heart, and the gift of storytelling.  Joe made mistakes he would take back if he could have.  His remorse was often on display as was his courage to move forward carrying some of the burden from his past.

Wonderfully imperfect, Joe lived a truly authentic full life experience.  This gave him a rare perspective and a charisma many were drawn to.  His path was unique, and the stories that he shared, incredible.  He inherited the gift of dance from Harpo and Dora.  He was an entertainer and a man many had a soft spot for.

Our family would like to thank the many people who showed Joe kindness, generosity, respect, and forgiveness.  He loved his children, brothers and sisters, parents, extended family, and friends to the end.

We would like to thank the health care team at Grand River Hospital (Intensive Care Unit) for their compassionate care they provided for Joe and our family.

Words written by Big Joe for his father’s eulogy.

“For what pleasure I have given you in my life, I am happy.  For what pain I caused, I deeply regret.  You taught me what the essence of a man is.  A father, grandfather and friend.  You have never abandoned me.  For that, I am eternally grateful.  Love from your eldest son”.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Joe’s Life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.

As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington and to the Lung Association Ontario would be greatly appreciated by the family.

A tree will be planted in memory of Joseph L. Macerollo in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
