Posted

Passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the age of 85. He will be deeply missed by his beloved partner of 35 years Betty McKitrick. Don was the proud grandfather of Zachary and Quinn McKitrick. Dear brother of Ted (Mame) of Wallaceburg, and Susan (Brian) Stratton of Winnipeg. Predeceased by his parents Edwin and Emma (Dawe) of Wallaceburg and sister Ruth (Ron) Howes. Lifetime friend of Bob (Sandra) Gilkinson. In his youthful days, Don played baseball in Wallaceburg and then attended baseball school in Tennessee. After his baseball career ended, Don relocated to Listowel to work at the local arena. He moved to Guelph for employment at Dayton-Walther Company Limited until its closing. Afterwards, he worked for Valerie and Peter Poulton at Steamatic until his retirement. Don had a love for the outdoors with his annual camping, fishing, moose and deer hunting trips with Bob and friends. A special thank you to the staff at Norfolk Manor for watching over Don in the last few months of his life. At Don’s request, cremation has already taken place. Betty will be receiving guests at her home Saturday, April 14 from 12:00 – 4:00pm to celebrate Don’s life. A private graveside interment will take place at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions to Guelph Humane Society would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of Donald V. MacNally in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:30 pm.
