We, the family, are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our father,
Gary MacPhee, age 71, of Guelph, Ontario on February 4, 2018. Gary was
predeceased by his beloved wife, Sheila (nee Currie). He is the treasured
father of James (Toby), Laura (Rick) and Kristina, and the amazing Grandpa
of Claire, Rowan, Graham and Bridget. He is also survived and loved by
his brother Roger (Judi); sisters Jane, Judith and Eleanor (Scott);
special sisters-in-law Kaye and Marilyn Currie, as well as his cherished
nieces and nephews. Gary was also predeceased by his parents Jim and
Dorothy (nee Doyle), late of Sydney, N.S., as well as brothers-in-law
Sandy and Greg Currie, and sister-in-law Babe Currie.

Gary was born and raised in Sydney, N.S., and began working for Air Canada
in the late 1960's. Together with Sheila, he moved to Toronto and then
Guelph, where they built an incredible home that was alive with love and
celebration. Throughout Gary’s career in aviation, he was integral in
developing and implementing procedures to ensure the safety and smooth
running of airport operations. With Sheila and his children, Gary
travelled the world, exploring new cultures and customs, always respectful
of and grateful to the people he met along the way.

Our Dad has instilled these values within us, and we are proud and
honoured to have been raised by such an incredible man. We would like to
thank everyone who has provided care for Dad over the past three months,
especially Dr. Bailey and Kelly C. We are eternally grateful to the staff
of Hospice Wellington for their incredible and compassionate care of Dad
in his last week, and also for the compassion and comfort they gave to us,
his family.

Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son
Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, on Wednesday,
February 7, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the
funeral home chapel on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. Cremation to
follow. Gary’s ashes will be interred beside those of his beloved Sheila.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hospice Wellington would be
appreciated by the family. Cards are available at the funeral home
