Posted

McFee Maureen MM

Passed peacefully on July 16, 2022 at Riverside Glen Retirement Home in Guelph where she had been a resident for the past four years. She had recently celebrated her 94th birthday.

Maureen grew up in Orangeville, Ontario, and lived for many years on a farm in Erin Township near Hillsburgh. For 33 years, Maureen and Walter took joy in running their 100 acre farm. Also during those years, she was active in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, the Women’s Institute and many other community affairs. She worked in the accounting office of Frank D Gray doing tax work for many local farmers and small businesses.

Maureen was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Walter McFee.  Also predeceased by her sister, Reta Currah, and her parents Wilson and Elva Bryan.  She was the mother of Bob McFee (Patti) and Ellen Atkinson (David) and grandmother to Katie Burrows (Jed), Rob McFee (Elena), Bryan Atkinson (Amy) and Annie Atkinson (Quentin). She had six great grandchildren: Walter and Archie Burrows, Ellis McFee, Henry and Johnny Atkinson, and Oliver Freno.

Maureen was lovely and kind, gracious and caring with a determination to do the right thing. She loved her family with all her heart and she will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Village of Riverside Glen for their caring and support through what can only be described as an incredibly difficult 2 and a half years. Special thanks to Doctor David Hood for his compassionate and exemplary care, and to Maureen's dear long time friend Freda who provided Maureen with so much companionship, kindness and assistance.

Due to the ongoing Covid pandemic, we will be having a simple graveside service, date to be determined. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.

A tree will be planted in memory of Maureen McFee in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
