McFee1 Walter MM (1)

November 28, 1924 – May 3, 2019

Walter McFee, originally of Erin Township, passed away, peacefully in his sleep, due to complications from pneumonia. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Maureen McFee (nee Bryan), his son Robert McFee (Patti), his daughter Ellen Atkinson (David), his four grandchildren, Katie Burrows (Jed), Rob McFee (Elena), Bryan Atkinson (Amy) and Annie Atkinson (Quentin), and his five great-grandchildren, Walter & Archie Burrows, Henry & Johnny Atkinson, and Oliver Freno. Walter is also survived by his sister, Frances Marshall.

Walter was the youngest son of John and Ethel McFee of Hillsburgh Ontario. He had four brothers and one sister. He farmed for 33 years on the 9th Line of Erin and was known to many farmers in Erin & East Garafraxa Townships as the Crop Insurance guy. He was proud of his farm and thoroughly enjoyed talking with other farmers in the area. Walter was an avid curler, a superb euchre player, and active and well respected in the Hillsburgh community. Over the years he was an Elder at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Hillsburgh (and chaired the re-building committee after a fire in the 1960s) and served on the Township of Erin Committee of Adjustment.

Walter and Maureen retired to Guelph in the mid 1990’s and in the last year moved to Riverside Glen Retirement home. Walter deeply loved his family and will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the staff of Emma's Neighbourhood of Riverside Glen and Doctor David Hood for their compassionate and exemplary care of Walter. They are gems each and every one.

Friends will be received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Wednesday, May 8 from 2 – 3 pm.  Funeral service will follow in funeral home chapel at 3 pm. Reception in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre.

Memorial contributions to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
