Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29th, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Palliative Care Unit in Guelph, ON in her 80th year.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 52 years Earl, daughters Dianne (Hamilton, ON), Joanne (Guelph, ON) and Adrianne (Guelph, ON); grandchildren, Justise, Alisha, Laura and Amanda.  Her sister, Gail (and Jim Newell), and brother Fernand Gamsby.  She is predeceased by her infant son David (1965), parents Canako (Ohama) and Seizen Teruya, brothers Bob, Gene and Gary. Patricia will be fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Patricia was born on April 11th, 1938 in Coaldale, Alberta to Canako and Seizen.  She moved East, met and married Earl Mead.  Their wedding was on December 26th, 1964 in Wingham, ON.   Patricia was a stay at home Mom, she was a 4H leader, a member of the Women’s Institute in Williscroft, ON and a member of the Saugeen Archers (Port Elgin, ON) .   Patricia enjoyed archery, playing euchre, crocheting afghans and in recent times colouring.  Family was important to Patricia and she loved spending time with her furry family members as well.

Visitation will be at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, home on Friday September 1st from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Waterloo-Wellington Alzheimer Society, Guelph Renal Centre, and the St. Joseph’s Palliative Care Unit.

The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Guelph Renal Centre, the Guelph General Hospital and St. Joseph’s Palliative Care Unit for their kindness and support during their time of need.  In addition, they would like to thank the support personnel, especially their PSW Helen, working with the Care Partners through CCAC.   Special thanks to Marg and Jen at the Palmerston Diabetic education centre for their support in help in controlling Patricia’s diabetes.
