Died peacefully in Guelph, on Saturday, October 29, 2016 in his 67th year. Al was the cherished son of Alvin John and Elizabeth Metzger (nee MacLennan) and beloved husband of Karen Thompson. He was a loving father to Anne Metzger (Michael) and stepfather to David Thompson (Krista). Al was the proud grandfather of Joshua Thompson, Lena Emond and Megan Emond and a loyal brother to John Metzger and the late Robert Metzger. Al was a warm and witty man, loved to laugh and always put others first. He was dearly loved and will be missed by his entire family and friends. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made in his memory to Hospice Wellington. A private celebration of Al’s life will be held for family and friends.
A tree will be planted in memory of Alan W. Metzger in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:30 pm.
