METZGER Alice

The strawberry pies will not be as sweet, the canned beets will not be as tasty, and the pickles not as tangy without her loving touch. The red geraniums will not be as vibrant and the wild birds will not be as plump. Alice Metzger left us peacefully on April 2nd in her 84th year.

Alice was a long-time member of Hawkesville Mennonite Church, camped for many years at Chesley Lake. Avid sports fans who enjoyed watching curling, baseball and hockey.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Stanley Metzger and together they worked hard to create a thriving poultry business. Loving mother of Fred (Patti) Metzger, Stuart (Julia) Metzger, Darcy (Rebecca) Metzger. Grandmother to Stephanie (Sheldon) Klassen, Tania (Patrick) Anderl, Trevor (Brandy) Metzger, Laura Metzger, Emily Metzger and Sophia Metzger. Great grandmother of Noah and Ariella Klassen, Hailey Anderl, Brian Metzger and Brayden Craddock.

Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Alice with her family during visitation at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home-Waterloo Chapel, 617 King St. N., Waterloo on Thursday April 5th from 3pm until 8pm and Friday April 6th from 10am until 10:45am prior to the Celebration of Life Service at 11am. A reception will immediately follow the Celebration of Life service in the funeral home. Cremation will follow with a private family interment at a later date.

Thanks to the staff and volunteers at Innisfree Hospice. Our community is truly blessed to have this wonderful resource to help our loved ones on their final journey.

Condolences for family and memorial donations to Hawkesville Mennonite Church or Innisfree Hospice may be arranged.
