MOLTO Patrick Joseph

*taps on a microphone*… is this thing on? …Attention everyone, it is with absolute mixed emotions that we notify you all that as of April 17, 2018, Patrick Molto, 91, has accepted an invitation to eternal life. We are comforted knowing that he is being embraced by his loved ones who have already ventured to the other side, including his pre-deceased, beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Agnes (nee McCartney) (09/02/2011), their son (and high-class provocateur), David (11/12/2016), and all of his brothers and sisters who went to the forever party long ago.

Patrick was an incredible man who has led an eventful life. A lifelong resident of Guelph, he grew up on a peanut farm, and his father owned a butcher’s shop. Instead of getting into the nut and meat business, he became obsessed, almost to a fault, about being a sales man. Pat was known to sell items that weren’t even his – including his fathers’ car when he had taken it for a drive around town.

In addition to his innate talent for sales, Pat took that passion and surrounded himself with things and people he loved most: cars, music and his family. Pat toured around the US, finding the most promising antique cars to restore and he spent eons in his garage perfecting every piece of those antiques before inevitably selling them. Pat played guitar and sang in many bands, in addition to jamming with family - even until the end. Patrick was never afraid of the spotlight, a microphone, or a stage at any height.

Aside from cars and music, Pat was known for his infectious laugh, his great story telling, his ability to sell you the shoes that you were wearing, and most importantly, for his unending love for his wife, Agnes. Although we are broken to see him leave this world, we are overjoyed that he is able to join her once again in eternal life.

You will be greatly missed by all of us here and we look forward to seeing what kind of life you’ve set up and the trouble you're all causing while we wait for our invitation to join you.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, April 22, from 6 - 8 p.m. and Monday, April 23, 11 a.m. - 1p.m. at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph. A Celebration of Pat's and his son David’s lives will take place on Monday, April 23 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. Boniface Church (Maryhill) or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Cards available at the funeral home
