Una Agnes MacMillan Steven Murray, beloved wife of David Murray for over 55 years, died peacefully on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Hospice Wellington in Guelph.

Born in Blantrye, Scotland, on October 15, 1938 she was predeceased by both her parents and her brother, Peter Young. She trained as a nurse at Glasgow Royal Infirmary (SRN) and subsequently as a midwife at Glasgow Eastern District Hospital (SCM). After coming to Canada in 1972, she took further training and was awarded her RN. For many years, she was charge nurse at the Antenatal Clinic of Oakville-Trafalgar Hospital in Oakville. After retirement, she took up the harp, reaching Grade 4 of the Royal Conservatory of Music. Moving to the Village by the Arboretum in Guelph in 2007, she founded the harp group, The Harpeggios, was a keen member of the Village Freewheelers, a wicked Bocce player, a member of the Village Singers and the Village Book Club. She was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church and of Halton-Peel Burns Club.

Una had a long and heroic battle with the devastating lung disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and is now finally at rest. She will be sadly missed by family and friends and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Many thanks to Dr. Shende, Dr. MacLean, Dr. Guertjens, the members of WWLHIN palliative team of nurses and personal care workers, particularly Nurse Practitioner Jessica, Nurse Susan, PSW Merritt, and the caring staff of Hospice Wellington.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Knox Presbyterian Church and Hospice Wellington will be gratefully accepted.

At Una’s request, a private family service is taking place.
