OSTIC, Ivan Robert

Posted

Peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018, at Hospice Wellington following a brief illness.

Beloved husband of the late Bette Ostic (nee Ford) for 67 years. Loving father of Jeff and his wife Debbie of Fergus and Jamie and his wife Cheryl of Shelburne. Poppa was loved and will be remembered by his grandchildren Bron, Brittany (Steve), Lauren (Alec), Courtney, and Christopher (Hannah).

Dad was the oldest son of the late George and Florabel Ostic (nee Ransom). He is survived by his brother Ron (Barbara) and sister Marjorie Leslie (the late Arthur). Predeceased by sister Helen Cross (Don).

Dad was a compassionate, kind, and thoughtful man whose word and firm handshake in business and in life were all that one required.

Dad was a lifelong resident of Fergus, served as an elder and sang in the church choir at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. He was a member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Fergus- Elora for 52 years and had been awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship, the highest honour one can achieve in Rotary.

All are invited to a reception to be held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Homes, 280 St. David St. South, Fergus on Monday, August 27, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. A Tribute of Dad will take place at 3:30 pm.

A private family service followed by interment at Belsyde Cemetery will take place earlier in the day.

We would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Wellington Hospice, for their care and compassion during Dad’s stay. This organization, facility, and all who are involved are very dear to us. Also special thanks to Dr. Chris Lund for his expertise and care in helping Dad and the family through this difficult time.

Thank you to the staff and management, and all of Dad’s friends at Heritage River in Elora, a cherished home for him in recent years who were all like family to him.

Should you wish, the family would appreciate memorial donations in memory of Dad to be made to Hospice Wellington, the Fergus- Elora Rotary Foundation, or a charity of your choice.

Thank you to all who have been so supportive, kind and caring to both Dad and our family during his final journey. Your support has been extremely helpful.
