Of Guelph, passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington after a battle with lung cancer, on January 3, 2019, in his 75th year.
Son of the late Melbourne and Alice Parkes. Predeceased by wife Kathryn, and brothers Earl, Doug, and Don. Survived and missed dearly by partner Marlene Alder, children Michael (Karen) Parkes, and Debbie (Martin) Pedersen, grandchildren Sofia, Erik, and Nicholas, and sisters Joan Fischer and Hazel Kreller.
Gary worked as a letter carrier for many years for Canada Post. After his retirement he enjoyed indulging his lifelong love of music by attending music festivals, travelling with Marlene, and spending time with his family and his loved cat Sammy.

Cremation has taken place, and friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Gary’s life at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 234 (57 Watson Parkway South, Guelph, 519-822-1565) on Saturday, February 9, between 1-4 pm.
