(December 8, 1926 to November 30, 2016) - It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Clare Pembleton. Clare passed away peacefully at Lapointe-Fisher Nursing Home in Guelph, a week and a day short of his 90th birthday, with his sons Scott and Kevin at his side.  He is survived by his son Scott (Marilyn Strong) of Kelowna, BC, grandchildren Ryan (Kate) Pembleton of Guelph and Meghan Dunning (Jeff) of Cambridge, and the grandchildren’s mother Barb Pembleton of Guelph; son Kevin (Joanne Taylor) of Oro Medonte, grandchildren Jason (Aimee) of Cambridge, Josh (Nikki) of Burlington, Joel (Sarah) of Guelph, Jesse (Jen) of Kitchener and Jenna Pembleton of Durham as well as 16 great grandchildren. Also survived by brother-in-law Paul (Bev) Robertson of Vernon, BC as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis (January 2015).

Born and raised and lived all his life in Guelph, Clare worked as an accountant for Ackers for almost 60 years, a partner in Ziebart in the 60s and was the accountant at the Guelph Country Club in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Clare was an active golfer and curler at the Country club and member of Dublin St. United Church. No service by request. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, Salvation Army or to the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest program would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of G. Clarence (Clare) Pembleton in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:30 pm.
