Died peacefully at Hospice Wellington on December 31, 2016 in Guelph at the age of 83. 

Donald is dearly missed by his daughter Martha, son-in-law Jeff and grandchildren Sarah and Lucas Karn. Donald was a loving husband to Sheila (2013), companion to Velma (Clancy) Keleher and supportive brother to Bill, June, Joan and Donna. 

Donald was born on June 10th, 1933 in Guelph to William and Vera Perry. He graduated from Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute in 1950. He went on to further his education at University of Western Ontario. He married Sheila (nee Peer) in 1955 and set about establishing his career with Guelph Hydro where he was the operations manager with 43 years of service, retiring in 1993. Donald was a loving father, poppa and friend to many of the neighbourhood children. He always encouraged them to pursue their goals with positivity and fun. 

He was a generous and kind man who loved travel, golf, reading, parties and a good laugh. He was an active and dedicated member of the Knox Presbyterian Church, YM-YWCA, Masonic Lodge and the Guelph Hockey Referee Association. 

Visitation will be held at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Tuesday (7-9 p.m.) and at Knox Presbyterian Church 1 hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 20 Quebec St., Guelph on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Donald’s life. . 

Memorial contributions to Knox Presbyterian Church or Hospice Wellington would be appreciated. 

The family would like to thank Guelph General Hospital Emergency Department, New Canadian Medical Transfer Inc. and Hospice Wellington for their care and comfort. 

Donald would like us all to remember: “take care of yourself, enjoy living” and above all “have a blast!”

A tree will be planted in memory of Donald E. Perry in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:30 pm.
