Of Guelph, Ontario (formerly from Saskatoon), passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 7, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Mel and Joyce Petrie, and his brother, Tom.
After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan, Allan worked as a Plant Pathologist for Agriculture Canada for 30 years. After retiring from scientific research he enjoyed gardening, researching and writing up his family history.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Bladder Cancer Canada for research, 4936 Yonge Street, Suite 1000, Toronto, ON, M2N 6S3. At Allan’s request, cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
A tree will be planted in memory of G. Allan Petrie in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:30 pm.
