Piscitelli Mary

Passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6th, 2017 at The Elliott Community, in her 100th year.

Mary was a gentle and kind lady who dearly missed her beloved Arthur, her husband of 73 years (2009). Mary was descended from emigrants from Gascogne, France who arrived in Quebec in the very early 1700’s. While born in Barrie, Ontario, most of her younger years were spent in Kapuskasing, Ontario. It was there that she met the love of her life, Arthur, and they married in 1936. Mary was the last child of the thirteen children of Edward Thiffault and Clara (Lizotte) Thiffault. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Grace “Dolly” Thiffault of Timmins, and many nieces and nephews.

The family thanks the many people who helped Mary with special acknowledgements to Sue Visser and Ed Lizzotte; Dr. Robert Goldsmith for going the extra mile so many times; the Staff and friends at Wellington Park Terrace; everyone on the Eramosa Unit at The Elliott Community; and the special care of Dianne Menegotto and Sheree Laycock.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, 28 Norfolk St., Guelph on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Mary's final resting place will be with her Arthur at Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum at Marymount Cemetery. Reception to follow at Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph.

A tree will be planted in memory of Mary A. Piscitelli in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:30 pm.
